My partner and I get each other a small gift every month. It doesn’t have to be bought, it could be dinner, a d.i.y project or even a freebie. On his O2 priority this month he received a voucher code for a free Nails Inc set. He knows I’m obsessed with Ciate and Nails Inc, to him it was a no brainer.
I have seen this monogram set before and almost bought if for my friend once. My initial impression was positive. I think it’s a cool concept and I like that it is creative. A few years ago, I used to imprint newspapers and bits poetry on my nails. Now that I am older however, I was stuck on what I would write on my nails. If this was Tash in 2000, then I would write something like ‘LOVE’ or ‘PEACE’ or something along those lines..but now I’m old and boring and all I could think of was ‘TASHA’…just incase I forget what I’m called.
There are clear instructions on the box of what you need to do, which I thought was really handy if someone is using the set for the first time. It comes with a clear polish but it doesn’t say if its a base coat, top coat or both, but the instructions suggest that its both. The actual nail polishes were disappointing. The clear coat was gloopy and didn’t have that smooth texture and finish, but it dried really quickly! The grey was really streaky, so I had to use about 3 coats to get a nice finish, even then, it still looked watered down and uneven. The burgundy coloured nail polish was a nicer shade in my opinion and it applied more smoothly, but it was also watered down, so I had to apply more than one coat.
The letters are easy to stick. You just peal off the one you want and stick it on your nail. It’s as easy as that. The actual letters are bigger than they appear once you stick them down. I’ve got a large surface area on my nails, so the letters looked ok, but I can see it being an issue if you have a smaller surface area. Aside from that, they stuck on really well and lasted far longer than the nail polish, which flaked after a few hours.
Overall, I think this would be a good set for someone who isn’t looking for a long lasting manicure. For someone who just wants something cool and different on their nails for a couple of days. I probably won’t use the nail polish again, but I will definitely use the letters and the base and top coat.
